Ciena India: Teaching Children Computing Skills

Since January 2007, the Ciena team in India has participated in a corporate community outreach program to share technological skills with underprivileged children.  Ciena employees spend time on Saturdays teaching basic and advanced computer classes to children from Shiksha Kendra School, in addition to providing education advice and family counseling.  Since its inception, the program has benefited over 100 students.

About DPS Shiksha Kendra
Shiksha Kendra (an initiative sponsored by Delhi Public School) is a school for underprivileged children from nearby localities of Gurgaon.   It is targeted at those who cannot afford a basic education, thus offering them not only free, but quality education.  Volunteer teachers provide them learning in an atmosphere that offer motivation and encouraged free thinking.
